Blueprint for a Money-Less Economy |
An IntroductionI was introduced to the idea of a money-less economy through the works of two visionaries: Gene Roddenberry and Jacque Fresco. My first introduction came through Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future in his Star Trek series. In this imagined future, humanity had evolved into a society focused on self-improvement and the advancement of the human race, rather than the accumulation of wealth. In this world, money simply didn’t exist. While inspiring, I dismissed it as pure fantasy. After all, how could a society function without money? My second introduction came from a video exploring the philosophies and teachings of Jacque Fresco and his “Venus Project.” Fresco’s vision of a money-less economy seemed not only feasible but far superior to our existing currency-based system. One statement of his struck me as particularly profound: “There are enough resources to house the entire world, but not enough money.” This statement challenged me to think deeply about the limitations imposed by our monetary system.
